Who Is Dr. Zaichick?

Dr. Robert Zaichick was born in his father’s home town of Edmundston, New Brunswick. His family moved to his mother’s home town of Montreal, Quebec when he was 8 yrs old. He completed his B.Sc. degree in physiology at McGill University, in 1987. While spending 2 years working on a Master of Science degree in Anatomy at McGill, he chose to follow a career in dentistry. He attended the University of Toronto, receiving his D.D.S. (which stands for doctor of dental surgery) in 1993. That fall he began his career as an associate dentist in Belleville, Ontario. Dr. Zaichick became the team dentist for the Major Junior A Belleville Bulls of the Ontario Hockey League.  While working with the team up to 2003, he learned first-hand about sports dentistry and trauma protection.  Dr. Zaichick learned how to make advanced state-of-the-art pressure - laminated mouth guards through courses by dentists who are the directors of dental services for the Olympic Games.  These same dentists work with athletes from the  Canadian Olympics, Australian National Rugby , NHL, OHL as well the CFL . His knowledge of sports trauma protection led him to teach that subject annually to the 2nd-year dental students at the University of Toronto Faculty of Dentistry for over 10 years.  

Dr. Zaichick and his team are annual volunteers for the Smiles For Life Foundation
The Smiles for Life Foundation is the children’s charity organization of the Crown Council, of which Dr. Zaichick has been a member for over 16 years.  

Each year over a four –month period, Crown Council dentists participating in the Smiles for Life campaign offer teeth whitening and donate 100% of the costs to children’s charities across the United States and Canada. Half of the proceeds from Dr. Zaichick’s office go to our local summer camp for children and families stricken by cancer. This is known as “Camp Trillium“ 
Since 1998 the Smiles for Life Foundation has raised more than $25 million for kids. 

Dr. Zaichick has 3 children:  Abby, Ethan and Finn. In his free time Dr. Zaichick enjoys playing drums alone or with local rock musicians. He also enjoys live music, comedy and theatre. 

He is excited to be recently certified in The Bioclear Method levels 1 and 3. He is a member of the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario, The Canadian Dental Association, The Ontario Dental Association, The Bay of Quinte Dental Society, the Academy of Sports Dentistry, and the Toronto Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.
